Norrsken, the international hub for tech entrepreneurship impact, announced on February 29 the appointment of Elie Habimana as the new Managing Director for Norrsken East Africa.
He succeeds Pascal Murasira, who led Norrsken’s initiatives in Rwanda, including the transformation of a disused school in Kigali into Africa’s largest startup campus.
Habimana played a pivotal role in Norrsken’s efforts to foster impact-driven tech entrepreneurship in Kigali and East Africa, overseeing the construction and operations of Norrsken House Kigali.
He assumes his new role on March 1, 2024.
Since its opening in late 2021, Norrsken House Kigali has become Africa’s largest startup hub, accommodating over 1000 tech startups, investors, and talent from across the continent.
Sara Kappelmark, co-CEO at Norrsken Foundation, expressed confidence in Habimana’s leadership as he was formerly the Deputy Managing Director, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to making Rwanda a leading ecosystem for impactful entrepreneurs.
Habimana, in response to his appointment, reiterated the mission to attract resources and support visionary founders addressing global challenges.
He emphasized leveraging partnerships to fuel growth and scale among promising African startups.
