President William Ruto has officially opened the Connected Africa Summit 2024 convened at Uhuru Gardens, Nairobi, Kenya.
“Harmonising digital policies across the continent will fastrack Africa’s ambition to position itself as the foremost global trade powerhouse powered by the African Continental Free Trade Area Framework,” President Ruto said on Monday while officiating at the summit opening.
The summit, a transformative initiative poised to shape the digital destiny of Africa, is guided by the theme; Shaping The Future of a Connected Africa: Unlocking Growth Beyond Connectivity.
Various heads of state, government officials, Policy makers, technology experts, researchers and a host of partners are attending the summit.
According to organisers, this summit aims to promote greater collaboration and fuel investment towards the achievement of Africa’s Digital Agenda 2063 and Vision 2030.
The summit aims to underscore the relevance of the digital economy in driving economic growth and development.

It will provide an opportunity for African leaders,investors and businesses to come together and harness the vast opportunities presented by the digital economy while addressing barriers and pressing issues affecting our economies.
Scheduled events have also been organised alongside the ongoing summit.
Pre-Summit Masterclass which will explore, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Digital Transformation & Governance: Emerging Trends and Risks, and Project Management.
Innovation Awards will also be highlighted at the summit. The Connected ICT Innovation Awards celebrates innovators and entrepreneurs who have launched technology-led ICT products and services.
Alongside this summit, there will be; Unlock Your Potential at SHE-TECH Forum 2024 focused on diving into the heart of innovation at She-Tech Forum 2024, a cornerstone event of the Connected Africa Summit.
