A huge dark plume of smoke was seen early Friday rising into the sky exuding from the roof of Kigali Marriott Hotel attracting several onlookers across Kigali city.
The Hotel management was quick to respond to the general public following several comments fronting diverse theories on social media.
“We’d like to reassure the public that the current situation within the building is not a fire emergency. Rather, the smoke coming out of the building is due to our boiler preventive maintenance work,” the management of the luxury hotel said via platform X.
Kigali Marriott Hotel added, “We understand that emergencies can be unsettling, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. Our team has swiftly responded to the technical issue that caused the false alarm and rest assured our priority is to make sure that our guests and everyone in the building is safe.”
