Frank Habineza, the leader and presidential candidate of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, has vowed to dramatically improve internet access nationwide if he wins the election.
This initiative aims to leverage technology’s benefits in key areas such as agriculture and security.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Ngororero on June 29, Habineza discussed the importance of deploying additional satellites to boost technological capabilities.
He referred to the party’s earlier manifesto, which included a proposal for a satellite dedicated to maintaining national security. Habineza reaffirmed that, under his presidency, the launch of more satellites would be a priority. “If elected, we will deploy more satellites to enhance internet connectivity, thereby improving agricultural technology and security,” he assured the gathered crowd.
Habineza also addressed the issue of youth unemployment, proposing the creation of technical schools in each sector, aligned with local economic activities and resources. This plan is designed to equip young people with practical skills relevant to the job market in their communities.
Alphonse Nshimyimana, a shopkeeper at Kabaya market, along with his fellow traders, expressed approval of the party’s initiative to subsidize fertilizers. “Their commitment to subsidize fertilizers is crucial, especially since Ngororero has extensive tea plantations,” Nshimyimana noted.
Habineza’s approach, focusing on enhancing internet infrastructure, vocational education, and agricultural support, reflects a holistic vision for national development. His campaign continues to gain traction as he shares these innovative policies with voters across Rwanda.
