President Paul Kagame addressed the residents of Kirehe and Ngoma Districts, highlighting the setbacks Rwanda has faced due to what he termed as ‘foolish leaders.’
Kagame used the Swahili term ‘pumbafu,’ meaning ‘a person with little intelligence,’ to describe past leaders whose lack of wisdom hindered the nation’s progress. He stressed that such foolishness caused Rwanda to lag behind in development.
The president praised the youth of Rwanda, stating that they possess strong principles and are fortunate to be led by wise leaders. “This youth has the opportunity to be led by people who are not fools,” Kagame remarked.
He reaffirmed that development is the core policy of the FPR Inkotanyi party and vowed that no one would obstruct this progress. Regarding security, Kagame assured that over 90% of issues have been resolved, and any attempts to disrupt peace are swiftly dealt with.
Kagame urged residents to continue working hard and making sensible decisions that would lead to their advancement. He advised them to prioritize economic growth and trade with neighbors for resources they lack. “Always ask yourselves, how will my life be tomorrow?” he said. “You must prioritize the economy and trade with your neighbors for things you don’t have.”
In his address, Kagame also encouraged the residents of Kirehe and Ngoma to learn Swahili to facilitate communication with their neighbors in Tanzania.
As he often does, Kagame promised the residents that he would return to visit them. He also expressed gratitude to those who traveled from Kigali to accompany him on his visits.
Residents of Kirehe told Taarifa Rwanda that Kagame’s contributions to their district are incomparable. They pledged their support, vowing to repay him on July 15, 2024, during the national elections for Rwandans living within the country.
