Members of the Muslim faith in Rwanda and across the globe are scheduled to celebrate the holy Eid-al-Fitr 2024 on Wednesday effectively ending the fasting month of Ramadan.
according to a a communique issued by the Ministry of Public service.
The date of Eid celebration depends on the Shawwal crescent moon sighting.
Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar have declared that Eid will be celebrated on April 10. However, Eid al-Fitr 2024 is expected to be observed on April 10 or 11 in India.
Experts speculate that the moon sighting might be impacted by the total solar eclipse.
Reports claim that the crescent moon might not be seen shortly after the eclipse – therefore, delaying the moon-sighting until April 9, 2024.
The festival will be celebrated a day after the sighting of the crescent moon.
Eid al-Fitr or Ramadan Eid marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
