APR FC Clinches 14th Peace Cup Title with Dominant Win Over Rayon Sports

APR FC secured their 14th Peace Cup title in emphatic fashion last night, defeating arch-rivals Rayon Sports 2-0 in front of a sold-out crowd at the 45,000-capacity Amahoro Stadium.

The military side wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Djibril Ouattara scoring the opener just four minutes into the match.

The goal, set up by Nshimirimana Ismail with a swift pass from the right flank, caught Rayon’s defense off guard and sent shockwaves through their ranks.

Rayon struggled to recover from the early blow, and APR continued to pile on the pressure. In the 29th minute, Nshimiyimana Yunussu capitalized on a misstep by Rayon forward Abeddy Biramahire and launched a quick counterattack alongside teammate Mugisha Gilbert, popularly known as Barafinda.

Gilbert made no mistake, slotting in the second goal that sealed the fate of the match.

Despite attempts to mount a comeback, Rayon Sports were outclassed across the pitch.

APR FC’s players displayed superior tactical discipline, physicality, and confidence, maintaining control for most of the game.

The final whistle confirmed a commanding 2-0 victory for APR, adding yet another trophy to their collection and reaffirming their dominance in Rwandan football.

Analysts suggest that this triumph could further boost APR’s momentum in the ongoing national league, with morale and team spirit riding high after a decisive win over their biggest rivals.

The final attracted thousands of fans, creating an electric atmosphere that underscored the significance of the match in Rwanda’s football calendar.
