A Congolese solder of FARDC DRC armed forces crossed into Rwanda border at the “petite barriere” and started shooting at the Rwanda Defence Force towers, the army said in a communique.
He was shot dead by the RDF patrol before causing a casualty.
The incident took place on Saturday 19, November 2022 near the local market.
According to RDF, the regional Expanded Joint Verification has been informed of the incident and is expected to investigate border violations.
“The RDF reassures the public and informs that the situation at the border remains calm,” the statement said.
