Rwanda Seeks Solar Energy Partnerships at India Summit

2 Min Read

Rwanda is seeking to strengthen its renewable energy partnerships and accelerate the adoption of solar power as a delegation led by State Minister for Infrastructure Armand Zingiro attends the 9th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) in New Delhi, India.

The Rwandan delegation, which also includes Rwanda’s Ambassador to India, Jacqueline Mukangira, is joining representatives from member countries and international partners at the November 2–5 meeting to discuss ways of expanding access to affordable, reliable and sustainable solar energy.

The General Assembly provides a platform for member countries to review progress in global solar energy development, strengthen international cooperation and explore solutions to challenges affecting the deployment of solar technologies, particularly financing, infrastructure and access to modern energy.

For Rwanda, participation in the meeting presents an opportunity to explore partnerships, attract investment and access technical expertise that could support the country’s renewable energy ambitions.

Such cooperation could help accelerate solar power projects, expand electricity access in underserved communities and reduce reliance on conventional energy sources.

Discussions are also expected to focus on mobilising financial resources for solar projects, encouraging private-sector participation and promoting technology transfer to make renewable energy solutions more accessible and affordable.

The assembly is taking place alongside the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 and the 4th International Green Hydrogen Conference, bringing together discussions on solar power, renewable energy technologies and emerging clean-energy solutions.

The parallel events could also provide Rwanda with opportunities to engage investors, technology providers and development partners interested in supporting Africa’s energy transition.

Potential outcomes for Rwanda include new cooperation opportunities, investment prospects, technical partnerships and knowledge-sharing initiatives that could contribute to the country’s efforts to diversify its energy mix and advance sustainable development.

Rwanda’s participation comes as countries increasingly look to renewable energy to address energy security, climate change and the growing demand for electricity driven by economic expansion and industrialisation.
