High profile military officers in Uganda have been seized as part of an ongoing investigation into supplying ‘false intelligence’ to the Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
Gen Muhoozi recently warned security personnel against providing him with false intelligence,
In August the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) cleared 19 general officers to retire from active service.
After a ceremony presided over by President Yoweri Museveni, the Generals danced while leaving State House. This gesture seems to have not augered well with General Muhoozi.
The General wondered why the 19 generals danced in front of the seat of power.
“This is nonsense. All those involved will be arrested!” Gen. Muhoozi said via platform X, adding, “We are investigating all the Generals that were dancing too much”.
Muhoozi posted on his X account on Tuesday that one of the “dancing Generals” had been captured and that another would follow soon.
Rtd Maj Gen Abel Kandiho and Rtd Brig Gen Charles Bakahumura, have since been plucked out of their homes and are now detained at a military facility in the capital Kampala.

Both Generals previously commanded the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) currently known as Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS).
The seized Generals are being investigated for production of false intelligence and treachery.
The investigation has been sanctioned by Gen Muhoozi himself.
Meanwhile, the arrests are also linked to previous seizure of intelligence officers, including former DIS chief Maj Gen James Birungi, director of Counter-Terrorism Col Peter Ahimbisibwe and director of Special Operations Lt Col Ephraim Byaruhanga, over allegations linked to false intelligence reports.
