Britam Insurance (Rwanda) Limited will this Saturday inaugurate the Britam Golf Series at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas, marking the insurer’s formal entry into Rwanda’s growing corporate golf circuit with a commitment that extends well beyond a single tournament.
To anchor that commitment, Britam Insurance (Rwanda) Limited will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Kigali Golf Resort and Villas to organise the series over the next five years; a partnership that signals the company’s intention to become a long-term fixture in Rwanda’s sporting calendar rather than a one-off sponsor.
The tournament, scheduled for Saturday 16th May 2026, will blend competitive play with premium hospitality.
Players will compete for grand winner accolades across different handicap categories, with additional skills challenges including Longest Drive and Nearest to the Pin; crowd-favourite segments designed to test both power and precision on the course.
Andrew Kulayige, Chief Executive Officer of Britam Insurance (Rwanda) Limited, said the series reflects the values the company seeks to embody as a business.
“Golf mirrors the values we stand for at Britam Insurance Company (Rwanda) Limited: strategy, resilience, focus, and long-term vision.
Through the Britam Golf Series, we are proud to support Rwanda’s growing golf culture while creating meaningful platforms for connection, excellence, and opportunity,” Kulayige said.
The launch comes at a moment of notable growth for golf in Rwanda.
Once considered a niche pastime confined largely to the corporate world, the sport has broadened considerably in recent years; drawing professionals, entrepreneurs, young talent and seasoned athletes into a community that gathers regularly at Kigali Golf Resort and Villas for weekend tournaments and national competitions.
The resort has established itself as the centre of Rwanda’s golfing life, hosting major tournaments and corporate series that have steadily raised the standard of play and the profile of the sport.
Britam Insurance (Rwanda) Limited is part of Britam Group, a diversified financial services group listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange, with operations spanning Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Sudan, Mozambique and Malawi.
The group offers products and services across insurance, asset management, banking and property.
