A new innovation has turned Coffee into a raw material for production of Cosmetics, Cookies and Honey.
Brazil the World largest coffee producer stunned participants at the International Coffee Week (SIC) by showcasing cookies made with the coffee husk. The fruit is now also used in beauty products such as perfumes and shampoos.
The initiative aims to add value to production and protect the sector from economic fluctuations and volatility in the international market.
According to research by the University of Brasília (UnB) and Embrapa, Coffee cookies replace up to 30% of wheat flour,
Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (Abic), argues that full use of coffee increases producers’ profitability.
The specialty coffee market is growing more than 20% per year, driven by new consumption patterns and demand from countries such as China.
The latest edition of the SIC fair brought together participants from 33 countries, generating around R$150 million in business deals.
