A location in Belgium capital at Square Marie-Louise 46, 1000 Bruxelles is currently a magnetic point bringing together like-minded people with a grand plan to attack Rwanda, according to unverified reports.

Square Marie-Louise 46, 1000 Bruxelles is the location of Burundian embassy.

It has emerged that some embassy staff are mobilising anti Kigali elements spread across Europe to mould into a formidable force that would exert pressure on Kigali.

Thérance Ntahiraja, the Burundian envoy in Bruxelles has specifically been assigned by his boss in Gitega to bring together all anti Kigali elements who are in Belgium and other European countries.

The anti- Kigali elements are said to be frequenting the embassy and holding closed-door meetings with Ntahiraja.

According to reports, some embassy staff say they do not know the exact details of these engagements with the envoy, but believe something serious is incubating , a dangerous and hostile operation aimed at attacking Rwanda.

Meanwhile, back in Burundi similar anti Kigali activities are taking place in central part of the country. A coordination center could be established with the ultimate goal of recruiting fighters.

Burundi which has deployed it’s troops in neighbouring DRC is allied with FARDC, FDLR militia and Wazalendo to fight against the AFC/M23 rebels who control the vast Kivu North and Kivu South Provinces.

The alliance is guided by a genocidal ideology which seeks to conduct massacres of ethnic Tutsi Congolese. The FDLR militia designated by Washington as a terrorist group is largely composed of perpetrators of the 1994 genocide against Tutsi in Rwanda.

Threats to March to Kigali

Burundi President Évariste Ndayishimiye in March last year threatened that his troops would capture Kigali.

He warned Rwanda that if it attempts to attack Burundi using rebels, he will intervene, stating that “Kigali is not far if we go through Kirundo”.

“If they [Rwanda] plan to attack Bujumbura via Congo, then for us, Kigali is not far if we go through Kirundo,” suggesting a direct march on the Rwandan capital.

However, Ndayishimiye’s threats would be described as panic after the AFC/M23 rebels exposed the weakness of Burundian army after suffering a humiliating defeat in DRC.

In January last year, the Burundi Army allied with FARDC, Wazalendo militia and mercenaries failed to defend Uvira City of South Kivu and were forced to flee across the border into Bujumbura.

The rebels captured Uvira but days later, unilaterally pulled out of the city in respect for implementation of the Washington agreements.

That rebels capture of Uvira triggered enormous panic in Burundi. Ndayishimiye immediately ordered deployment of his troops close to the Rwandan border fearing that he would be attacked.

Ndayishimiye strongly believed that after the fall of Uvira, the RED Tabara rebels he accuses Rwanda of supporting would effectively cross into Burundi.

However, Kigali denies the accusations, calling them “unfortunate” and an attempt to ruin relations.

Burundi borders with Rwanda remain closed. Gitega accuses Kigali of hosting coup d’etat plotters that had ousted President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Gitega has repeatedly demanded that Kigali hands over the suspects. However Kigali says a handover is a violation of international laws protecting refugees.
