Zambia’s capital, Lusaka is preparing to host the annual International Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA) set for November 27 to 30.
African leaders and various policy makers, researchers are expected to attend this conference to reflect on lessons learned in health and science, and align on a way forward for creating more resilient health systems.
The conference will be convened at Kenneth Kaunda Wing of the Mulungushi International Conference Center guided by the theme; “BREAKING BARRIERS: REPOSITIONING AFRICA IN THE GLOBAL HEALTH ARCHITECTURE”
Other areas of discussion include Epidemiology, Diagnostics and Clinical Management of Emerging and Re-emerging High Consequence Infectious Diseases (HCID) in Africa.
Increasing Local Production in Africa: Advocacy, Research and Development Capacity in Diagnostics, Therapeutics and Vaccine Manufacturing will also form part of talks.
Magda Robalo the President and Co-Founder of Institute for Global Health and Development (IGHD) has called for all-inclusiveness in this year’s conference and stated the need for full participation in the meet to discuss women’s health.
Last year Rwanda hosted the conference which sought to spotlight African science and innovation, and strengthen local, regional and global collaboration.
According to organisers, CPHIA 2023 will showcase how the continent is breaking down barriers, reaffirming Africa as a powerhouse in science and innovation, generator of new knowledge and health products, and exemplar of progress.
As African countries accelerate the realization of a New Public Health Order, this year’s conference will help to build a healthier, more prosperous Africa – for the continent, and the world.
