South Africa’s top-selling female singer, Yvonne Chaka Chaka is expected in Kigali; Rwanda early next week.
The humanitarian activist and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador confirmed her visit on her twitter handle Saturday evening.
“Going to [Kigali next week for Global Fund Board Meeting} to celebrate 20 million lives saved globally,” she said on twitter. “Rwanda success.”
She last visited Rwanda almost ten years ago, where she had joined Rwanda’s First Lady Jeanette Kagame on a tour to the earthquake victims in Northern Rwanda. The tour was organized by UNICEF and Imbuto Foundation, the First Lady’s advocacy organization.
Chaka Chaka, whose musical career spans more than two decades, has visited Rwanda several times before. In 2007, she sang before a crowd of almost 30,000 at the Amahoro National Stadium during Rwanda’s centenary celebration.
