She last visited Rwanda almost ten years ago, where she had joined Rwanda’s First Lady Jeanette Kagame on a tour to the earthquake victims in Northern Rwanda. The tour was organized by UNICEF and Imbuto Foundation, the First Lady’s advocacy organization.

Chaka Chaka, whose musical career spans more than two decades, has visited Rwanda several times before. In 2007, she sang before a crowd of almost 30,000 at the Amahoro National Stadium during Rwanda’s centenary celebration.
