Meanwhile, coffee addicts also have to feed their habit. Opinions on whether it is good to drink coffee on a hot day can vary. Some people enjoy drinking coffee regardless of the weather, while others may find it less appealing when it’s hot outside.
Rwanda has some of the best coffee in the world, addicts and casual drinkers will sneak out office to grab a shot or a cappuccino.
We spoke to a renown barista in Kigali, Yves Niyongabo, the proprietor of one the best and iconic coffee shop in the city. Here are a few of his considerations when it comes to consuming coffee on a hot day:
Personal preference: It ultimately comes down to personal preference. If you enjoy the taste and effects of coffee and don’t mind drinking it in warmer weather, then there’s no reason to avoid it.
Hydration: Coffee is a diuretic, which means it can increase urine production and potentially contribute to dehydration. However, the effect is generally mild unless consumed in excessive amounts. It’s essential to balance your coffee intake with an adequate intake of water or other hydrating beverages, especially on hot days when staying hydrated is important.
Temperature: If you’re concerned about the heat, you can opt for iced coffee or cold brew instead of hot coffee. These chilled alternatives can provide a refreshing and cooling experience on a hot day.
Caffeine sensitivity: Some individuals are more sensitive to caffeine, and it can affect their body temperature and heart rate. If you are particularly sensitive to caffeine, you may want to consider consuming it in moderation or opting for decaffeinated coffee.
