Uganda is set to conduct the National Population and Housing Census 2024 with the reference night being 9th May 2024. The Census will be done in 10 days starting on 9th May 2024 to 19th May 2024.
According to the government, the census exercise will use digital technology to collect, process and disseminate census results.
The digital census will enable the Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) to produce accurate and timely demographic, social and economic statistics.
As per 2022 figures, Uganda’s total population had reached 47.25 million.
In more recent statistics of 2023, due to external migration, the population declined by 41,133. The sex ratio of the total population was 1.000 (1,000 males per 1,000 females) which is lower than global sex ratio. The global sex ratio in the world was approximately 1,016 males to 1,000 females as of 2023.
According to Trading Economics’ global macro models and analysts’ expectations, GDP per Capita in Uganda is expected to reach U$999.74 by the end of 2024.
In the long-term, Uganda’s GDP per capita is projected to trend around U$1079.72 in 2025 and U$1176.90 in 2026, according to their econometric models.
Other data indicate that imports in Uganda increased to U$1087.50 Million in February from U$917.10 Million in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, Uganda’s total exports decreased by 4.5 percent to U$ 583.9 million in September 2023 from U$ 611.7 million recorded in August 2023.
