The 23rd commemoration of Genocide against The Tutsi happened this year with the theme “Remember the Genocide against the Tutsi – Fight Genocide Ideology – Build on Our Progress”.
His Excellency Paul Kagame led in the opening ceremony of ushering in the National Mourning Week from April 7 to April 14, 2017 as the commemoration will continue for 100 days.
Rwandans and friends of Rwanda from all over the world joined hands to show their solidarity and acknowledged the painful acts that led to the slaughter of over a million innocent lives during the Genocide against The Tutsi in 1994.
Rwandans reiterated their commitment to fight the genocide ideology and to reflect on the country’s journey of unity and reconciliation.
