On the sidelines of the 92nd INTERPOL General Assembly, Rwanda’s Minister of Justice, Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, led a delegation to meet with INTERPOL President Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi. The discussions centered on strengthening international cooperation in the fight against transnational organized crime, with Rwanda reiterating its commitment to making INTERPOL a dynamic and proactive organization in response to evolving global security threats.
The Rwandan delegation, which also included top officials from the Ministry of Justice, the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), and the Rwanda National Police, emphasized Rwanda’s active role in regional and international law enforcement partnerships. The talks aimed to bolster Rwanda’s collaboration with INTERPOL, especially in areas such as cybercrime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, and terrorism.
The Rwandan team took the opportunity to honor outgoing INTERPOL Secretary General Prof. Jürgen Stock, who is concluding his second term. Under Stock’s leadership, INTERPOL made significant advancements in operational effectiveness, digital crime management, and member state coordination. Rwanda expressed its appreciation for Stock’s dedicated service, recognizing his contributions to global security and his leadership in modernizing INTERPOL’s capabilities.
As INTERPOL prepares for a new era, Rwanda’s engagement at the General Assembly highlights the country’s proactive stance in international law enforcement efforts. With growing concerns over organized crime networks across borders, Rwanda’s partnerships within INTERPOL reflect its commitment to global security, justice, and peace.
