Taarifa has leanrt that the search for the Amavubi national team coach, is close to an end following a released shortlist of three candidates from over five dozens of applicants.
The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has shortlisted three coaches from the list of eight finalists who were interviewed for the position.
Among them is Botswana’s coach Peter Butler.
Butler has been in charge of the Zebras since 2014, although his contract is about to end. He is reportedly in discussions with the Botswana Football Association over a new deal.
The list of three potential candidates was generated from the initial 52. The other two are Antoine Hey, a German and a Swiss, Raoul Savoy.
Antoine Hey is a German football coach and former professional player who played in the Bundesliga. He was previously the coach of the Kenyan national team, a job he held from February to November 2009.
Raoul Savoy, a Spanish-Swiss coach, once head coach of FC Sion and head coach of the Senior National Team of the Central African Republic.
On May 15, 2015, Raoul was appointed the manager of Gambia national football team. He quit in December 2015.
FERWAFA plans to meet with all three for interviews on February 27 in Kigali before making a decision. Rwanda fired the last coach John McKinstry in August.
