Rwanda officially inaugurated its Embassy in Hungary during a visit by Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe, marking a significant milestone in the two countries’ growing diplomatic relationship.
The embassy, which opened in 2024, reflects Rwanda’s continued effort to expand its global presence and deepen partnerships in Europe.
“Rwanda highly values its partnership with Hungary. We want to bring it a step further, attracting private sector investment,” said Minister Nduhungirehe at the inauguration ceremony. “We look forward to building on this momentum for more cooperation, more trade and investment, more shared success for both nations and people.”
Minister Nduhungirehe was accompanied by Rwanda’s Minister of Sports, Nelly Mukazayire.
Together, they met with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó to review the progress of Rwanda–Hungary cooperation and explore further collaboration in key sectors including education, trade, investment, and sports.
During the visit, the Rwandan delegation also engaged with Hungarian business leaders in a roundtable discussion, presenting Rwanda as a strategic destination for private investment, backed by a stable business environment and pro-growth policies.
Minister Nduhungirehe also delivered a lecture at the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy on “Rwanda’s Foreign Policy: A Strategic Perspective,” where he outlined the country’s transformation and its foreign policy pillars: security, peacekeeping, economic diplomacy, regional integration, and people-to-people exchanges.
The newly inaugurated embassy is expected to accelerate bilateral initiatives and foster stronger political, economic, and cultural ties between Rwanda and Hungary.
