Rwandan farmers rearing pigs and growing cereals could be destined for big money from the growing markets in Uganda, DRC and south Sudan.
According to weekly statistics released by the Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), Rwanda exported cereals worth U$1,517,473, Animal products valued at U$174,495.8, Oleaginous: U$451,967, Roots & tubers: U$155,093, Pulses: U$155,714 all destined to south Sudan, Uganda and DRC.
NAEB also indicates that last week: (Apr, 8-14), the country shipped out 808.2MT of tea fetching a total of U$ 2,406,01 mostly to Pakistan, UK, Kazakhstan, and Iran.
Coffee remains among the country’s top exports destined to Belgium, and UAE. Rwanda exported 247MT of coffee last week earning revenue worth U$ 1,183,056.
Meanwhile, volumes worth 377MT of horticultural (fruits, vegetables & flowers) for last week (Apr, 8 – 14) were exported fetching a total of U$ 672,841 and mostly destined to DRC, UAE, UK, Netherlands, Germany, and China.
