Rwanda’s Cabinet, chaired by President Paul Kagame on May 26, approved new bilateral air service agreements with 12 countries, including Canada, France, and Zimbabwe, in a move aimed at enhancing international air transport, trade, and tourism.
The agreements are expected to strengthen Rwanda’s position as a regional aviation hub by improving global connectivity and facilitating easier movement of goods and people. Officials say the expanded air links will support economic growth by attracting foreign investment and increasing tourism revenues.
In the same meeting, the Cabinet discussed national strategies to boost exports, attract more private sector investment, and improve the management of public investment projects. These discussions align with Rwanda’s long-term development goals under Vision 2050.
The Cabinet also approved a national data sharing policy for public institutions, intended to improve transparency, data access, and coordination among government agencies.
In other decisions, ministers reviewed reports on the implementation of international human rights treaties to which Rwanda is a party and approved a ministerial order regulating child guardianship and intercountry adoption, signaling ongoing reforms in child protection.
Additionally, it was announced that the 18th National Agriculture Show will take place from June 18 to 27, showcasing Rwanda’s agricultural innovations and attracting investors to the sector.
Kigali will also host the 2025 ISO Annual Meeting this October, a major international event focused on global standards and quality management systems.
The wide-ranging decisions reflect Rwanda’s commitment to economic transformation, international cooperation, and social development through structured reforms and global engagement.
