Rwanda and Pakistan Strengthen Ties with Landmark Agreement

Rwanda and Pakistan took a significant step in deepening their bilateral relations on Monday afternoon with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Political Consultations.

The agreement was signed during the inaugural political consultations held in Kigali, where Clementine Mukeka, Permanent Secretary in Rwanda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted Ambassador Hamid Asghar Khan, Additional Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.

The MoU establishes a framework for regular consultations on political, economic, and other areas of mutual interest, laying the groundwork for stronger collaboration between the two nations.

“This agreement establishes a strong foundation for deepening our partnership and exploring new opportunities for mutual growth,” Mukeka said during the signing ceremony.

Pakistan, the world’s fifth most populous country, boasts a dynamic economy with a strong industrial base and significant agricultural output. Its growing interest in forging partnerships in Africa reflects its vision of expanding trade and investment opportunities globally.

The consultations highlighted areas such as trade, investment, and cultural exchange, which are expected to benefit from this enhanced relationship. Both countries expressed optimism about the potential for stronger cooperation across various sectors.

The agreement marks a significant milestone in Rwanda’s growing international partnerships and underscores its commitment to fostering diplomatic ties globally.
