Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA) has successfully maintained its ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) certification for the next three years, after passing an audit by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
This recertification reaffirms RRA’s commitment to upholding international standards in quality management, efficiency, and service delivery.
RRA first obtained ISO certification in 2009, which was valid for ten years. The certification renewed in 2019, was initially set to last for three years. However, the recertification process delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and was completed in December 2024.
The RRA Commissioner General, Ronald Niwenshuti acknowledged the dedication of RRA staff in achieving this milestone. He emphasized that certification is not the final goal but rather part of an ongoing journey of improving the tax administration’s service delivery.
“Obtaining the certification is one thing; we must maintain the high standards that earned us this certification while also improving service delivery for our customers to feel they are at the center of our work,” he stated.
“As the management and tax administration, we remain committed to doing everything necessary to meet our customers’ needs, for which we have been recognized.”
This certification demonstrates RRA’s ability to provide high-quality services and operate efficiently. It validates that it manages risks effectively, complies with regulations, maintains a competitive advantage, and strives for continuous improvement to ensure sustainability in service delivery.
ISO 9001 is a set of international processes and procedures designed to help organizations maintain quality and meet customer expectations.
Founded in 1947, ISO has issued more than 22,000 international standards and has members in over 161 countries. The organization has developed multiple versions of the ISO 9001 standard over the years, including ISO 9001:1987, ISO 9001:1994, ISO 9001:2000, ISO 9001:2008, and the latest ISO 9001:2015.
