A military delegation from the Rwanda Defense Forces (RDF) on Wednesday, arrived in Uganda’s capital Kampala where they met with the recently appointed Chief of Defence (CDF) of the UPDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainegugaba.
Gen. Muhoozi has been very instrumental in repairing the frosty relations between Rwanda and Uganda after the two countries fellout leading to the closure of the border for nearly three years.
Gen. Muhoozi shuttled from Kampala to Kigali meeting with President Paul Kagame and discussing several issues that had led to the collapse of relations.
“You can have peace but at the same time, you may not be friends. This time I think we have both – we are friends and we are at peace. Thanks to you General Muhoozi for your role in this and for your conviction and for being that bridge we used to cross from one side to another,” President Kagame said during a dinner hosted April last year in honour of Gen. Muhoozi in Kigali.
