President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on Friday engaged with Qatar’s Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to wish him successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which kicks off on Sunday.
According to the Qatar News Agency, HH the Amir expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Russian President for his congratulations and wishes to the State of Qatar for success in hosting the tournament, praising Russia’s cooperation in organizing this global event.
Qatar refers to Russia as the friendly Russian Federation.
Meanwhile the same state news agency revealed that the United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken is scheduled to visit the State of Qatar on Nov. 21-22 to launch the fifth U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue.
US and Qatar officials are expected to discuss a range of issues, including security cooperation, trade and investment, climate change, global health, humanitarian assistance, international development, and other issues.
The US Secretary of State will also discuss Qatars important contribution to international sports diplomacy, especially as it hosts the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Chairman of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority (ACTA) Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad has promised that his country will host an exceptional tournament.
“Hosting the tournament in the State of Qatar, as the first Middle Eastern and Arab country to host this major sporting event, will make the World Cup exceptional and unique by all standards,” he said.
The World Cup Kicks off on Sunday but on December 18, Qatar will observe the National day to commemorate Qatar’s unification in 1878.
Hamad bin Nasser Al Misnad said on Friday that the celebration of the National Day this year will be special, given that the fans of the world will be present in Qatar to enjoy the World Cup, and therefore they will be dear guests celebrating this National Day.
