More than 200 un armed civilians have been savagely massacred by the ADF terrorists in Beni territory, North Kivu over a month-long period according to a report by civil society in the province.
The civil society coordination office of Congo, Rwenzori sector, specifies that the chiefdom of Bashu was the most affected by the rebel attacks.
“We have just counted more than 200 people killed with machetes by the ADF. Majority were killed in the Bashu chiefdom, where more than 38 deaths were recorded in Mukondi and 8 deaths in Mwasa on the same day, but also in Kirindera on the night of March 11 to 12 where 20 people were killed and in Musandaba towards Oicha, where 21 people were killed, there are also other circles”, said Jade Vutsapu, one of the executives of the civil society group.
Mr.Jade Vutsapu considers the joint operation between Uganda Peoples Defence Forces and the Congolese army against the ADF militia is not effective.
He calls on the Congolese government to reassess the operations in progress in the area.
This Civil society in the Zone also considers the results of the ongoing military operations to be bleak, despite the presence of Congolese and Ugandan armed forces in the zone.
However, UPDF overall operatin Shujaa commander Maj.Gen. Olum Dick said the Ugandan troops had registered tremendous successes since its inception, including, the capture of the ADF position of Kambi ya Yua and the desrtuction of Tondoli, Belu I and Belu II camps by air and artillery strikes.
He also said that several ADF fighters have since been captured and ammunition recovered.
