Nine officers from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) have successfully completed four-year programmes at prestigious military academies in Qatar. The graduation ceremonies, held on January 22 and 23, 2025, marked a significant milestone in Rwanda’s efforts to enhance the professional capacity of its armed forces.
The graduates include four officers from the Land Forces and five from the Air Force, highlighting Rwanda’s commitment to strengthening its military expertise across different branches.
The ceremonies were attended by His Highness Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, senior officials of Qatar, and a high-level delegation from Rwanda led by Brigadier General Franco Rutagengwa, Commandant of the Rwanda Military Academy.
Brig Gen Rutagengwa praised the partnership between Rwanda and Qatar in military training and emphasized the importance of such programmes in building the capacity of the RDF.
The collaboration between Rwanda and Qatar reflects a growing bilateral relationship, particularly in areas of defense and security. These training opportunities are expected to contribute to Rwanda’s military readiness and regional peacekeeping efforts.
