MTN Rwandacell PLC, in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, has launched Connect Rwanda 2.0, a concerted effort aimed at propelling smartphone accessibility across Rwanda.
This initiative is a response to the broadband policy passed by Rwanda’s cabinet in October 2023, which sets ambitious targets: 80% individual smartphone ownership, 90% of households equipped with smartphones, and an 80% adoption rate for broadband.
The latest addition to this endeavor is the introduction of IKOSORA+, an affordable 4G-enabled smartphone, unveiled by MTN Rwanda in Nyakarambi Sector, Kirehe District, as part of the Connect Rwanda 2.0 initiative.
Building upon the success of Connect Rwanda 1.0, which connected over 26,599 beneficiaries nationwide since its inception in 2019, Connect Rwanda 2.0 aims to further enhance smartphone accessibility, ensure affordability, and bridge digital disparities.
