In an official statement, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant expressed strong opposition to the International Court of Justice’s decision to entertain South Africa’s request to discuss allegations of genocide in Gaza.
Galant criticized the court’s handling of the matter, accusing it of not outright rejecting the petition and going beyond its jurisdiction.
Galant vehemently defended Israel’s actions, stating that the country doesn’t require moral lessons on separating terrorism from the civilian population in Gaza.
He argued that justice could not be found in The Hague but rather in the Hamas tunnels in Gaza, where Israeli abductees are allegedly being held, and those responsible for murdering Israeli children are said to be hiding.
The defense minister highlighted the contrasting values between Israel and its adversaries, referencing an alleged document found in the pockets of terrorists that instructed them to “drink the blood of the Jews.”
In contrast, he pointed to the “Spirit of the IDF” document found on Israeli fighters working to protect human dignity.
Galant underscored Israel’s commitment to its mission, stating, “The State of Israel will not forget the 7.10. – The IDF and the security agencies will continue to act and dismantle the Hamas regime, eliminate its military capabilities, and bring about the return of the abductees to their homes.”
He expressed trust in the commanders of the IDF and all members of the security forces. The statement reflects the ongoing tensions and deep-rooted conflict in the region, with both sides presenting starkly different narratives.
