Former Ghana international and Black Stars skipper, Asamoah Gyan has been ordered to pay GHȼ25,000 ($2,101) monthly towards the welfare and upkeep of his three children with his ex-wife, Gifty.
Gyan is also to compensate his former wife with a house he owns in the United Kingdom, and another four-bedroom house in Ghana, a gas station and a couple of cars.
These are among orders made on Tuesday, October 31, by the High Court in Accra which has been hearing the couple’s divorce suit for the past three years.
The couple had gone their separate ways over Gyan’s denial of the children’s paternity, however, the court ruled on Tuesday that Gyan is the biological father of Gifty’s three children.
The $2,101 for the welfare and upkeep of the three children does not include their educational expenses, medical and dental care settlements, and aircraft tickets for travel, among other costs for the upbringing of the children.
The court order follows a petition filed in 2019 by Asamoah Gyan’s wife, Gifty Gyan at the Divorce and Matrimonial Division of the Accra High Court.
According to the lady, Asamoah Gyan ceased taking care of his children and his wife in July 2018 when he filed for annulment fo their marriage.
According to the report, Gifty Gyan was asking the court to order Asamoah to begin to take care of his family once again until the court rule on their divorce.
Asamoah Gyan became a subject of ridicule in court in Ghana when it turned out all the children are his biological children after the paternity test he demanded confirmed.
Asamoah Gyan as part of his annulment petition told the court he doubt the children of his wife are his and demanded a DNA test.
When it was granted and the results came, all the children were his biologically without any trace of doubt, according to the report.
