The Congolese armed forces of the 3205 regiment deployed in the Uélé operational sector, claim to have seized two rebel elements of the SELEKA armed group, active in the Central African Republic.
According to Captain July Kinsher, spokesperson for the army in the Uélé sector, these rebels, were hiding among Central African refugees who fled armed atrocities in a region of the CAR , on the border with the DRC.
The rebels were arrested last week in Zapayi, a locality located about 185 km from the Territory of Ango, in the province of Bas-Uélé.
“These rebels have infiltrated peaceful Central African citizens fleeing atrocities between SELEKA and ANTIBALAKA, two rebel groups fighting in the prefectures of MBOKI, ZEMIO and OBO”, said the spokesperson of the army in the Uélé operating segment.
He added that an AKA 47 gun with 23 rounds was discovered by the civilian population in the Senga Nzambe mining square, located 60 km from the Moku locality, in the territory of Watsa, in the province of Haut Uele.
The army reassures that investigations are underway by the intelligence services of the Uélé élé operational sector in order to find its carrier.
The Seleka is an ethnic coalition with religious coloring formed in August 2012 by rebel groups to oust Central African President François Bozizé from power which it did in 2013.
It was then officially dissolved but continued to control the land before burst into several factions at the end of 2014 which still dominate a large part of the Central African Republic today.
