A 1-1 score was the result of the Azam Rwanda Premier league match in which Police FC hosted APR FC this Sunday at Kicukiro stadium.
Police FC wanted a win over APR who they have not beat in last despite having knocked them of the Peace Cup in 2015.
APR were up in the first half of the game but could not convert chances they had into goals.
The defending champions scored the goal that was denied by the referee in the 6th minute stating that the goalkeeper of Police FC had been fouled on by APR defender Hervé Rugwiro.
The army side coached by Jimmy Mulisa got their goal in the 52th minute through the header goal scored by Imran Nshimiyimana who left Police FC last year.
Top scorer Danny Usengimana scored the draw goal for Police FC in the 62th minute which saw the match end 1-1.
The result raised hopes for Rayon Sports FC to scoop the league cup as they are on the 1st position with 58 points after having triumphed over Musanze FC with a 1-0 win in Musanze yesterday.
APR are second with 51 points followed by Police FC with 48 points. Both teams have played two more games than Rayon Sports.
Meanwhile, it was a tough start for Gilbert Kanyankore as a new head coach of Bugesera FC as his side were beaten by Mukura VS in Huye 1-2.
Bugesera led the first half with a goal scored by Farouk Ruhinda Ssentongo before Kevin Hakizimana and Christopher Ndayishimiye scored the goals to give Mukura the 3 points that pushed them to the 9th position with 29 points from the 11th position.
Mukura’s coach Ivan Minaert coached the match in the stands as he had been banned by the Rwandan Football Federation over indiscipline.
SC Kiyovu beat Sunrise FC 2-1 in Nyagatare while Marines won 2-1 over Kirehe FC.
This is after AS Kigali beat Pepiniere FC 2-1 yesterday while Ettincelles FC drew Espoir FC 0-0 in Rusizi.
