The inaugural All African Independent Film Festival (AAIFF) is set to take place in Kigali, Rwanda, from September 13 to 15, 2024.
The festival, which promises to be a landmark event, will be held at the French Institute in Kigali and will feature a diverse array of independent films from across the African continent.
The AAIFF will commence with a VIP/Press Night, showcasing some of the best African independent films. The festival will screen over 25 films, including features, documentaries, and shorts, highlighting the talent of both emerging and established African filmmakers.
In addition to the film screenings, the festival will host panel discussions with directors, actors, and industry experts, covering topics such as film production, distribution, and the future of African cinema.
Aspiring filmmakers will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops at the festival’s student corner, focusing on scriptwriting, cinematography, and editing.
The festival will culminate in an awards ceremony, honoring outstanding achievements in various categories, including Best Independent Film, Best Director, and Best Student Film.
The AAIFF aims to celebrate and promote the rich diversity of African independent cinema, providing a platform for filmmakers to showcase their work to a global audience.
The festival also seeks to foster collaboration and networking within the African film industry, encouraging the exchange of ideas and resources.
As part of the ÉCU Film Festival Brand, the AAIFF is dedicated to furthering the careers and artistic paths of Africa’s bold and visionary independent filmmakers while fostering innovation and creativity.
