FRN rebels have heavily bombarded and shelled positions of allied forces of DRC and Burundi forcing them to abandon their guard and flee.

Taarifa Investigative Desk has established that a large cache of weapons and ammunition were seized by the rebels.

“A lot of weapons were captured! The bodies are gruesome to look at, but judging by the wounds, most of them appear to have been neutralized by the FRN’s sharp-shooters,” a source on the war front said on Monday.

Details indicate  that the weapons were abandoned on the hills of Kadezi about 70km from Uvira city.

It has also emerged that the fire power exerted by the FRN rebels has triggered internal wrangles among the allied troops.

Burundian forces are reportedly accusing the FARDC of abandoning the fight and leaving the burden to the FDLR and Wazalendo militias.

“More than 100 Burundian soldiers have reportedly been neutralised in South Kivu in past two days,” the source privy with the rebels operations said.

From Sunday the Congolese military allied with Burundian troops and wazalendo militia attacked FRN positions at Kuwihene, Rugezi, Point Zéro, and their surroundings, in the Minembwe region.

The offensives were carried out using kamikaze drones and heavy artillery fire, including 120 mm and 82 mm mortars.

Meanwhile, early Monday, allied forces launched attacks against Mitimbili and Munanira, in the Kaziba sector, Walungu territory, in South Kivu.
