Rwanda Positions as Gateway for Indian Investors to Africa

The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening investment ties with India, highlighting Rwanda’s potential as a strategic base for Indian companies seeking to expand their operations across Africa.

RDB Chief Executive Officer Jean-Guy Afrika made the remarks during the official launch of the Indian Business Chamber in Rwanda (IBCR) in Kigali on Saturday evening, bringing together Indian and Rwandan business leaders to explore opportunities for trade, investment and commercial partnerships.

Afrika highlighted India’s growing investment presence in Rwanda, noting that the country offers opportunities for businesses seeking to establish operations, expand their reach and access markets beyond Rwanda.

“For Indian companies, the opportunity is therefore not simply to invest in Rwanda for the Rwandan market. It is to establish a base from which they can build, test, expand and serve markets across Africa,” he said.

The launch of the chamber is aimed at strengthening connections between the two business communities, creating a platform for dialogue and facilitating partnerships that can translate into increased trade and investment.

Through the RDB, Rwanda continues to position itself as an attractive destination for investors seeking opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing, services, technology and other areas with potential for regional expansion.

The Indian Business Chamber in Rwanda is expected to provide a platform for Indian businesses operating in the country and Rwandan companies seeking partnerships with Indian investors, helping them identify opportunities, exchange information and develop commercial relationships.

The initiative comes amid efforts to deepen Rwanda-India economic cooperation by encouraging private-sector engagement and expanding business links between the two countries.

By strengthening these connections, Rwanda aims to attract additional investment, support business growth and reinforce its position as a regional hub for companies looking to serve the wider African market.
