Kenya is in total panic as the East African state records it’s first case of Ebola linked death, Taarifa Investigative Desk reveals.
According to emerging details, the Kenyan Ebola victim had lived in Democratic Republic of Congo for 11years.
Before he succumbed to the disease, he had taken a bus ride from Beni, DRC and crossed into Uganda on October 2.
He allegedly took a Jambojet flight from Kampala to Nairobi on October 3. Upon arriving on Kenyan territory, he easily passed through airport health screening.
Upon feeling unwell, a relative took him to Nairobi Hospital and was quickly isolated after presenting with a fever, chills, and bleeding under the skin.
“We know that he left Buta, a city in [northern] DR Congo, to drive to Kisangani. And from Kisangani, he took a flight to Beni. From Beni, he drove to Uganda. And from Uganda, he took a flight to Nairobi,” said Jean Kaseya the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention chief.
Meanwhile, Ten people who came into contact with the Ebola victim, have been quarantined, according to health officials.
President William Ruto has said that surveillance and rapid response teams are on the ground, building on the systems that the country adopted following the outbreak in DR Congo in May.
His spokesman said Kenya had the capacity to detect, isolate and manage suspected cases, adding that so far more than 650,000 travellers had been screened and 267 samples tested.
