Health Minister Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana presided over a handover ceremony for Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority’s newly appointed leaders on Monday, 21 September, reaffirming the Ministry of Health’s support for the agency’s work.
The appointments, approved by Cabinet on 18 September, place Prof. Raymond Muganga at the head of Rwanda FDA as Director General.
Dr. Jean Pierre Munyampundu will lead the Food Department, while Dr. Monia Kabandana will head Laboratory Services, according to the Cabinet notice provided with the event photographs.
For Muganga, the handover formalises a role he had held in an acting capacity since August. He previously led the authority’s Laboratory Services Department.
The leadership change matters beyond the agency itself. Rwanda FDA regulates products people rely on every day, including medicines, vaccines, processed foods and medical devices.
Its work is intended to protect the public from products that fail safety and quality standards.
