The AFC/M23 rebels have reported that their positions in Minembwe have come under heavy bombardment by government troops since early Saturday
“Since 10:00 a.m. this Saturday, September 19, 2026, the coalition forces of the Kinshasa regime have launched a new series of bombings against Point Zero, using 82 mm mortars and kamikaze drones,” rebel movement spokesperson Lawrence Kanyuka said Saturday.
He added, “the bombings are currently continuing with high intensity, directly targeting civilian populations.”
Meanwhile, on Friday the rebels expressed concern of intensified deployment of the FDLR elements along side Congolese troops despite a treaty requiring their disarming.
“On Friday, starting at 05:40, the Kinshasa regime’s coalition troops launched simultaneous attacks against Nyaruhinga, Mukoko, Nyamabuguma, Point Zéro, and Gipimo, in the Minembwe region, using heavy artillery, kamikaze drones, and significant ground forces,” Kanyuka said.
Kanyuka added that on the same day the Kinshasa government troops, launched attacks against Kasovu, Katoyi, and surrounding positions, in the Masisi territory.
The rebels said they will continue their defense operations and protection of civilians.
