Miguel Masaïsaï a Cyclist and founder of the ‘Pedals for Peace’ initiative has been crashed to death in an accident far away in Congo Republic
Masaïsaï aged 25 is a national of Democratic Republic of Congo.
“Congolese cyclist Miguel Masaïsaï passed away on Friday, following a traffic accident that occurred near Ouesso, in northern Congo-Brazzaville,” the hospital confirmed his death.
Taarifa has established that Masaïsaï’s body is being kept at the morgue of Ouesso Central Hospital, pending arrangements for his repatriation to the DRC where he will be laid to rest.
Masaïsaï under his “Pedal for Peace” project, aimed to cycle from Goma to Rabat, Morocco.
According to Masaïsaï, ‘pedals for Peace’ aimed to promote peace, unity, and hope across Africa.
His goal was to ride approximately 14,000 kilometers from Goma, DRC to Rabbat, Morocco spanning roughly 15 to 17 African countries.
Masaïsaï kicked off his journey on May 1, 2026, Masaisai traveled through the DRC, reaching Kinshasa after covering over 6,500 kilometers.
After receiving a national honor as the first Congolese to cycle across the DRC from east to west, he crossed into the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville) in early September to continue his journey toward Cameroon and North Africa.
He was using sports and long-distance cycling to advocate for youth solidarity, national cohesion, and peace
Masaïsaï aspired to enter the Guinness World Record.
