The Administrative Capital of Uganda is being relocated to Nakasongola district geographically located in the center of the country.

According to emerging details, Nakasongola is the only district that connects all the four regions of the country including North, South, East and West.

However, official cabinet approval of the Nakasongola city project is still pending. The new city proposal has been fronted by State Minister for Urban Development Margaret Muhanga.

Kampala city has since independence served as both commercial and political Capital. During colonial era, Entebbe served as the seat of the colonial administration.

Urban development officials of Uganda government argue that inspite of Nakasongola’s central location, land there is still empty, cheap and underdeveloped. It makes it easy and cheaper for acquisition and enable  planning for a modern city infrastructure.

“Access into the city are planned to have 10lanes connecting to the four regions of the country”, a radio journalist said while reporting from the launch site.

Nakasongola city project takes effect from 2027 and will proceed in a phases upto 2040.
