The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has graduated 146 officers and other ranks after completing seven weeks of intensive Military Police training conducted in partnership with the Qatar Armed Forces.
The graduation ceremony, held Tuesday at the Rwanda Military Academy in Gako, was presided over by RDF Chief of Defence Staff Gen Mubarakh Muganga.
The training focused on specialized Military Police operations, including VIP protection, counter-terrorism, combat in built-up areas and anti-riot operations, strengthening the participants’ capacity to respond to complex security situations.
The programme forms part of the growing defence cooperation between Rwanda and Qatar, particularly in military training, professional development and exchange of expertise between the two armed forces.
The ceremony was attended by Qatar’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Mansoor Ali Al-Hajri, senior officials from the Qatar Armed Forces, as well as RDF generals and senior officers.
The joint training also reflects the two countries’ broader security partnership, with Rwanda and Qatar maintaining close bilateral relations across several sectors, including defence and security cooperation.
