Rwanda will host the 20th Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF) Summit in Kigali from September 1 to 4, 2026, marking the Forum’s 20th anniversary and reinforcing the country’s position as a leading destination for major continental events.
The announcement was made during a Cabinet meeting, where the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources briefed Cabinet on preparations for the summit.
Held under the theme, “Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience,” the summit will bring together Heads of State, policymakers, investors, researchers, agribusiness leaders and development partners to discuss practical solutions for transforming Africa’s food systems.
Organisers expect more than 5,000 delegates from over 50 countries to attend the four-day event, which will feature high-level policy discussions, investment forums and the Forum’s flagship Deal Room, connecting investors with agricultural projects across the continent.
Since its establishment two decades ago, the Africa Food Systems Forum has grown into one of Africa’s leading platforms for agricultural policy, innovation and investment, promoting partnerships that strengthen food security, climate resilience, value addition and job creation.
According to Amath Pathé Sene, the Managing Director of AFSF, this year Rwanda will also launch the food innovation hub strategy, a new milestone to position the country as a destination for food innovation in the continent.
Hosting the anniversary summit underscores Rwanda’s growing role as a continental hub for diplomacy, investment and international conferences while providing an opportunity to showcase its progress in agricultural transformation and innovation.
