Rwandan Peacekeepers in CAR Praised for Readiness and Professionalism During Command Visit

The Commander of the Joint Task Force Bangui (JTFB) and Rwanda Country Senior to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), Brig. Gen. Franco Rutagengwa, has commended Rwandan peacekeepers deployed in the Central African Republic for their professionalism, discipline and operational readiness.

Brig. Gen. Rutagengwa made the remarks during a visit to the headquarters of Rwanda Battalion Two (RWABAT-2) at the Bossembele Permanent Operating Base, where he assessed the contingent’s operational preparedness, logistical support and administrative status.

The visit was aimed at evaluating the battalion’s readiness to carry out its peacekeeping mandate under MINUSCA while ensuring it remains adequately supported in its operations.

Addressing officers and troops, Brig. Gen. Rutagengwa stressed the importance of maintaining a high state of operational readiness in an evolving security environment.

He praised the contingent for its commitment to duty, describing its members as professional and disciplined representatives of the Rwanda Defence Force.

The commander encouraged the peacekeepers to continue upholding the Rwanda Defence Force’s values and standards as they carry out their mission of supporting peace and stability in the Central African Republic under the United Nations mandate.
