Hundreds of young people from across Rwanda are set to gather at the Kigali Convention Centre for a National Youth Forum focused on accelerating efforts to prevent and eliminate teenage pregnancy.
The forum, organized by Imbuto Foundation, is being held under the theme: “Accelerating Action to Prevent and End Teenage Pregnancy.” It will bring together youth representatives from different sectors to discuss practical solutions to one of the country’s pressing social challenges.
The event is expected to be attended by Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, Founder and Chairperson of Imbuto Foundation, who will deliver a keynote address encouraging young people to take an active role in preventing teenage pregnancies and promoting healthy, responsible lifestyles.
The forum comes at a time when the latest Rwanda Demographic and Health Survey (RDHS 2025), conducted by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, shows a concerning rise in teenage pregnancies.
According to the survey, 8 percent of girls aged 15 to 19 have been pregnant at least once, up from 5 percent recorded in the 2020 survey.
Organizers say the forum will provide a platform for open dialogue on the root causes of teenage pregnancy while exploring sustainable solutions, including strengthening awareness campaigns, expanding access to reproductive health education, and empowering young people to make informed decisions.

Since 2007, Imbuto Foundation has organized youth forums aimed at educating, mentoring, and equipping Rwanda’s young people with the knowledge, values, and leadership skills needed to contribute to the country’s future development.
The gathering is expected to reinforce collective efforts by young people, government institutions, and development partners to reduce teenage pregnancies and improve the well-being and future opportunities of adolescent girls across Rwanda.
