The Government of Rwanda has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ansys aimed at expanding access to advanced engineering simulation tools across higher learning institutions.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday as Minister of State in the Ministry of ICT and Innovation, Yves Iradukunda, received a delegation from Ansys led by Africa Managing Director Lou Major.
Under the MoU, a centralized framework will be established to facilitate the onboarding of universities and polytechnics onto Ansys platforms, granting them access to simulation software and licenses.
The initiative is expected to support the wider adoption of simulation technologies in teaching and learning.
Officials said the partnership will also introduce training programs, lectures, demonstrations, and industry engagement sessions designed to expose both students and lecturers to practical applications of simulation tools.
The move is part of Rwanda’s broader strategy to strengthen the link between academic training and industry requirements, particularly in engineering and technology fields.
By integrating simulation into curricula, authorities aim to enhance the development of hands-on skills needed in the evolving digital economy.
The government has increasingly prioritized collaborations with global technology firms to improve the quality and relevance of education, positioning the country as a growing hub for digital skills and innovation in the region.
