A prominent Ugandan born-again pastor Robert Kayanja (pictured above) appeared before a Kampala based Mwanga 11 court and testified on Monday, in a case where he is accused of sodomosing 9 members of his Lubaga Miracle Center church.
Uganda has very tough legislation against hormosexuality, “A person who commits an offense of homosexuality is liable, on conviction, to punishment for life.”
The same law also provides, “any person who commits an offense of aggravated homosexuality and is liable, on conviction, to suffer death,” subject to provisions of the 2023 anti-homosexuality Act.
Pastor Kayanja says he first met the gang at Rubaga Miracle Centre, during his revival crusade dubbed 77 Days of Grace in 2017. The gang had expressed a desire to change their lives.
He told court that over time, the individuals showed interest in joining the church’s security team.
They were subsequently recruited and trained at the Kabalye training school, after which they were assigned security duties at both the church and Kayanja’s Kiryandongo farm on a rotational basis.
Kayanja explained that the arrangement provided the group with accommodation and a stipend. The remaining portion of their salaries was saved for them, to be paid out in full once they reached adulthood and could manage their finances.
However, i previous reports, the accusers said, “We went at Miracle Centre when we were still young. Whenever we wanted to leave the place expecting that we shall be heard by the law of this country including police, Judiciary and the government, we were warned by our colleagues that we would suffer consequences from the pastor.”

“He deployed most of us and gave us guns to protect his home in Kawuku, his farm in Kiryandongo and Masoli farm. We thought we were safe from being sodomised because we were far away from him,” according to the accusers.
They also claimed, “even he used to come and sodomise boys working in Kiryandongo.”
“During that time he chose 50 of us and took us to police academy Masindi in 2018 and during that time, we remember seeing MP’s and high ranking police officers who used to come and visit the training wing but we were always hidden and from then we began suspecting that government did not know about our training,” according to a testimony published on davidisrealssrm.
