Uganda Airlines Launches Weekly Flights to Lagos

Travelers from East Africa will not have to go through the Middle East to later connect to their final destination in West Africa.

Uganda’s national Carrier announced on Thursday that it had launched weekly flights to Nigeria’s commercial capital Lagos.

“The operation to Lagos creates an air bridge between the West Africa that breaks a cross-connectivity pattern that impedes swift interconnectivity in East Africa,” said Uganda Airline’s Chief Executive Officer Jenifer Bamuturaki.

The flights which effectively commenced on Thursday will be three times every week to the West African region.

Uganda government said it has identified fresh fruits, along with other agricultural products, as its prime export commodities to the west African region.

According to Jenifer Bamuturaki, “the African continent is underserved in terms of Air Transport at only 22% and connectivity by Air has become more expensive. Regionally the connectivity between the West and East is still minimal, Usually, we look as far as middle East to connect to West Africa. Uganda Airlines will answer that call of duty and hereby brings its commitment to the fore to start its service to Lagos, Nigeria.”
