Rubavu, Rwanda – Simba Supermarket has officially opened its 13th branch in Rubavu, marking another milestone in its nationwide expansion. The new outlet, housed in a modern property developed by Jali Holdings, is expected to enhance the town’s economic and social landscape as Rubavu continues to attract a growing elite class and increased investment.
The launch event was officiated by Prosper Mulindwa, the Mayor of Rubavu, who praised Simba’s entry as a significant addition to the town’s economic development. He emphasized that such investments create employment opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and contribute to Rubavu’s transformation into a commercial hub.
Simba Supermarket’s Managing Director, Hope Agaba, highlighted Rubavu’s strategic importance, describing the town as home to a unique and vibrant clientele. She also noted that the new store would complement the Musanze branch, which has already solidified its position in the region.
Simba’s owner, Teklay Teame, pointed out the strategic benefits of the expansion, particularly due to Rubavu’s proximity to Goma, a key market for cross-border trade. “The investment in different districts and continuous expansion is a result of Rwanda’s good business environment and safety. We appreciate the friendly business environment, we are happy, and we will keep growing,” he said.
The new Rubavu store has already created 50 jobs, with local residents among the beneficiaries. One of the new employees, Alliane Christened Inshimwe, a recent university graduate, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. “I graduated last year and had not yet secured a job. I am so grateful for Simba’s entry here. Now I have a job,” she said.
Simba Supermarket, known for its high-end retail services, now employs over 800 people across Rwanda. Its continued growth reflects the increasing demand for quality retail services and the company’s commitment to expanding its footprint in key locations across the country.
